Política e Administração no Mundo Luso-Brasileiro
This article proposes to describe the governmental organs belonging to the Portuguese Crown at the Court level during the second half of the 17th Century. By paying special attention to these organs insertion in the royal household (the “Casa Real”) we begin by detailing the court’s structure for governing, its functioning and composition. In the article’s second part, we analyze the culture of service then predominant in this sector of the political system. Finally, we conclude by calling attention to the principal changes these mechanisms underwent.
