Call for Papers

Proposal Submission

You are invited to submit proposals for any of the following:

Individual presentation - should include participant’s name and institution; title/abstract of proposed paper;

Thematic panel (4 participants) - should be submitted by the Chair of the session, informing title/abstract of session and title/abstract of each participant’s paper.

In order to avoid mistakes in issuing certificates, we request your special attention when filling out the online forms. Be careful not to leave out important information such as personal identification, as well as that of  your proposal (individual; thematic panel). Please check to see if your email address does not contain typos, in order to guarantee contact containing important conference information. After you have registered, a message containing your login information will be sent automatically to your email address.

There will be no refunds of registration fees. In the event that your submitted proposal has not been accepted, it is still possible to register as a guest (certificates will be issued).

Instructions for Submission of Proposals

Thematic Panels 

In order to submit proposals for panels, PANEL CHAIRS must first select one of the subthemes from the list. They must then create an account for the panel. After this, the corresponding form may be accessed by clicking on “personal area”.

Panels should have a minimum of two and a maximum of four participants.

Titles of works  - no longer than 200 characters (spaces included).

Abstracts - no longer than 1,300 characters (spaces included).

 

Individual Proposals

Abstract Submission

In order to submit an individual proposal, the first step is to create an account and download the corresponding form. 

Titles should be no longer than 200 characters (spaces included) and abstracts no longer than 1,300 characters (spaces included). 

Please do NOT use BLOCK LETTERS in abstracts.

Proponents who have had their abstracts approved may submit their COMPLETE PAPER for publication in the ONLINE CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS.

Guidelines for Publication

1. Contents of published works express the opinions
and conclusions of their authors. All works will be published “as is”; i.e.,
authors are responsible for revising grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, syntax etc.
2. Works may be presented in Portuguese or English and should be sent (uploaded, via IASA page) no later than 20 May, 2011.
3. Typescripts should not exceed 15 pages, and should be formatted in Word for Windows (rtf), Times New Roman, 12-pt font; 1.18”margin all around; single-spaced.
4. Do NOT use BLOCK LETTERS; author’s (s) name/s should appear immediately below the title, to the right, followed by the Institution (in parentheses).
5. Footnotes, 10-pt font, should be in Arabic numerals and should contain complete bibliographical references, including edition, if not a 1st edition.
Example: KADIR, Djelal. Memos from the Besieged City: Lifelines for Cultural Sustainability. Stanford: Stanford UP, 2010.
6. Foreign words and book/journal titles should appear in italics; titles of articles in quotes.
Example: DESMOND, Jane. “Making American Studies Dance”. American Quarterly, v. 53, n. 3, Sept. 2001, p. 526-534.
7. When using images, these must be scanned in 300 dpi, as TIF or JPG, in 5x5 cm format (approx.), and inserted/saved directly in the document.
8. Only citations over 3 lines in length should be detached from the text. If citation has 4 lines or more, it should, then, be detached from the text (4cm tab).
9. No bibliography is to be included at the end. Complete bibliographical references should appear as footnotes.
10. No abstracts or keywords will be included.

Complete papers should be uploaded by 05/20/2011 (in “personal area”)

Acceptance of papers requires payment of registration

Participants need to indicate whether they want to be included in the online proceedings 

Every speaker on the program must be an IASA member. You can join in advance or on site
